台灣近期接連發生馬公空難及高雄氣爆事件，有人認為應該停辦今年在台中施放的國慶煙火活動，不過國慶籌備委員會主委、立法院長王金平今（1）日邀集各政府部門及相關單位討論結果，今年的國慶煙火活動仍將照常舉行。

王金平表示，台灣接連發生馬公空難及高雄事件，舉國哀傷，經由全國同胞發揮愛心，發揮人溺己溺的精神，已經若干程度撫慰了亡者及家屬，而在政府及相關單位通力合作下，災區重建工作也已經陸續展開。

王金平說，台中市政府及相關常務委員認為，施放國慶煙火，是國慶活動的一環，希望藉此讓國人走出哀傷，展開對未來的信心，並且發揮刺激景氣的作用；而台中市政府更表示，已經都有妥善規劃，相關的準備工作也沒有間斷，因此會中大家共同決議，今年的國慶煙火施放將照常舉行，且原訂的規模也不會受到影響。

王金平表示，整個國慶相關活動非常多，總經費在3000萬元左右，比起10幾年前的4、5000萬元已經少了很多，也已經盡量節省，至於施放國慶煙火部分則大約是900萬元
