電腦想升級,現在用E8400真的太落伍嗎??

原本我的電腦是478的P4 2.8G
持續用了約10年,前幾天主機板不幸壽終正寢無法開機
找了朋友來看他說這種老舊平台壞了也沒得買乾脆換掉
剛好他那裡有電腦剛升級換下的配備
大約是INTEL E8400,華碩P5P43TD主板,4G DDR3兩條
三樣東西用1.5k賣我,看起來好像滿便宜的

但問了另外一位朋友
他說E8400已經是五六年前的東西也過時了
效能不如現在的i3
要買也至少要組i3的等級才行
真的就如他說的那樣嗎??
當初看E8400好像很熱烈討論的說@@
我只有上網以及文書處理(WORD EXCEL)兩個用途
但可能上網會開幾個視窗,WORD會開約三四個
這顆CPU可以勝任嗎?老實說P4這樣做很吃力
