根據勞工部周四公布的數據顯示，1月24日結束的一周，美國初次申請失業金人數大幅減少4.3萬人至26.5萬人，創14年低點。

這次降幅創2012年11月以來最大，也大幅多過預期。

接受MarketWatch調查的分析師平均預估，上周初次申請失業金人數為29.6萬人。

但分析師警告，一年此時，因假日與天氣易於造成波動，無需過度解讀該報告。

勞工部說，該周因有馬丁路德 金恩假日，申請時間縮短。

過去四周，平均每周初次申請失業金人數減少8250人至298500人。

1月17日結束的一周，美國持續領取失業金人數減少7.1萬人至239萬人。
