中俄『海上聯合-2014』軍演的中方總導演、大陸海軍副司令員田中在接受採訪時說，此次演習首次組織水面艦艇編隊互為條件進行超視距攻防演練；首次組織潛艇與水面艦艇編隊進行自主對抗。軍事專家尹卓在接受央視採訪時表示，首次組織潛艇與水面艦艇編隊進行自主對抗，意味著此次中俄軍演不設定情況，演練接近實戰。

根據人民網報導，尹卓稱，俄方反潛能力較強的大型反潛艦參演，而大陸艦艇有各種現代化的探測設備和反潛裝備，反潛能力較高，透過軍演可以促使中俄雙方相互藉鑒。他說，潛艇在東海淺水區域進行反潛作戰很困難，這對中俄雙方是一個很好的鍛煉。

另外，此次軍演首次組織水面艦艇編隊互為條件進行超視距攻防演練。尹卓認為，目前中俄雙方的艦艇多採用雷達波制導的超視距攻擊，透過雷達探測能夠超視距的發現敵艦，然後反艦導彈可以自主發射擊中目標，而一般的超視距攻擊，多使用直升機指示目標。尹卓稱，超視距攻擊是今後驅逐艦等大型艦艇在海上反艦作戰的主要手段。
