線上遊戲玩家要小心了！美國中情局前僱員史諾登爆料，英美情報單位把魔爪伸進線上遊戲多年，包括魔獸世界、第二人生跟線上Xbox都遭間諜滲入，他們蒐集情資，並搜捕恐怖分子，沒有告知遊戲公司也引起軒然大波，更讓發玩家反彈。

美國中情局前僱員史諾登爆料，美國國家安全局跟英國政府通訊總部，滲透魔獸世界、第二人生跟線上Xbox等遊戲，延攬線人，並且蒐集玩家間的對談資料，因為他們懷疑恐怖份子藏匿身分，藉線上遊戲策畫恐怖行動，以及交易虛擬貨幣。

不過英美情報單位似乎空手而歸，沒有找到恐怖份子的蹤跡，主要是因為遊戲公司本身就會追蹤監控玩家的一舉一動，可能早就讓恐怖份子望而卻步。

研發魔獸世界的業者表示，他們沒有批准情報單位進行監控活動，英美間諜活動無所不在，一樁接著一樁，這回踩到道德紅線，引起反彈，再度留下負面觀感。
