彰化市第33屆國民小學田徑錦標賽，10日在民生國小舉行開幕典禮，隨後展開校際間的競賽。開幕典禮由大會主席民生國小校長林火旺、彰化市長邱建富主持，他致詞時勉勵選手們將平日訓練的成果展現出來，締造佳績。

彰化市國民小學田徑錦標賽今年邁入第33年，由彰化市公所主辦，彰化市各國小輪流承辦，舉辦地點均擇定在承辦校學，今年由民生國小承辦。這次比賽共有來自彰化市16所國小三百多位隊職員參加，邱市長希望小選手在運動場表現運動家的精神，為自己及學校爭取最高榮譽。

邱建富市長就任以來，大力推廣體育活動，主要是希望藉由運動使國小學童從小就鍛鍊身體，讓小朋友體格充分發展，從運動競賽中培養團隊合作精神，養成愛好運動習慣，帶動本市運動風氣，讓彰化成為充滿活力的新城市。
