台灣車市競爭激烈，除是日本豐田原廠重要的海外生產基地，大改款NEW ALTIS亞洲首發選定台灣，並放手讓和泰車靈活訂價，象徵台灣進階成為重要的試「價」指標。

日本豐田原廠總工程師安井慎一表示，選擇台灣作為亞洲首發，主因是台灣是相當重要且成熟的市場，生產經驗也很豐富，藉此傳遞給泰國在內的其他市場。

安井慎一指出，NEW ALTIS在開發初期就展開各國調查，除一定要標準化生產的部分，能區域化的部分，盡量運用地域性元素，不一定非要使用日本的標準、規格及元素。

和泰車車輛營業本部長黃明顯表示，ALTIS雖是常勝車款，但各國車市生態不同，不可能全面套用日本模式，賣車仍得因地制宜。

黃明顯分析，和泰車大膽此次提出調降入門款售價、提高平價款銷售比重的構想，原廠當然會有疑慮，是在歷經多次溝通，認知在台市場差異後，總算點頭。

車廠主管指出，和泰車此次說服原廠同意其訂價策略，代表台灣「升格」了，不再侷限於代工角色，訂價上掌握更高自主權，不只是實驗性質，更是後發市場的訂價參考。

車廠主管分析，雖降價可能衝擊利潤，但因國內老舊車輛比重過高，若能激發汰舊換新意願，長期對豐田與和泰車將是雙贏。
