〔自由時報記者林宗偉／綜合報導〕「在發展聯盟沒有聚光燈，你必須付出一切才能得到機會，丹尼爾斯做到了，我為他感到喜悅。」從撲接搶球到「神來一傳」，整個過程不到3秒，林書豪卻不居功，因為身為「過來人」，他知道丹尼爾斯從底層竄起有多不容易。

如同豪小子的「林來瘋」發跡歷程，22歲的丹尼爾斯在2013年先是參加NBA選秀名落孫山之外，之後與山貓、火箭簽下短約又相繼被裁，直到上季在發展聯盟成為三分球王後，再度受到火箭青睞，但他只在3月短暫出賽2場便遭下放，直到4月10日才被召回。

丹尼爾斯在發展聯盟場均可拿下23.3分，不僅入選該年度明星賽，整季173記三分球也是最多。薪水約僅15萬美元（455萬台幣）的他驚天一擊，在一堆千萬美元身價的明星旁，除讓主帥麥克海爾封他為「強悍小子」，連哈登都說：「2週前這傢伙還在發展聯盟，現在他拯救了我們的球季。」
