緬甸反對黨全國民主聯盟(NLD)領袖翁山蘇姬(Aung San Suu Kyi)，與歐盟執委會主席巴洛索(Jose Manuel Barroso)會面時表示，緬甸必須在2015年國會選舉前修憲，才能確立民主標準，而且修憲後緬甸才能順利民主化。

據了解，翁山蘇姬於比利時時間19日傍晚，於布魯塞爾與巴洛索會面，並強調緬甸修憲的重要性。翁山蘇姬在記者會時也表示，若要做到讓人民信任正義，讓所有人都平等，就絕對要進行修憲。

巴洛索表示，歐盟相當清楚緬甸尚未完成民主化，但緬甸有意願完成，國際社會應給予支持，也感謝翁山蘇姬，從未放棄自由及民主。巴洛索並讚賞，一個人能夠改變一個國家的歷史，翁山蘇姬即為典範。

而緬甸於2015年選出的新國會議員將選舉總統，翁山蘇姬也曾透露有意願角逐。歐盟表示，將會與緬甸當局合作，讓2015年的選舉能夠透明化。

另外，此次翁山蘇姬訪歐，主要是為了領取1990年獲得的沙卡洛夫人權獎（Sakharov Prize），頒獎典禮也將於22日法國史特拉斯堡歐洲議會舉行。
