David Ortiz代打敲出２分砲。

代打上陣的「老爹」David Ortiz也很猛，8局上的2分砲，幫助紅襪最後以6比2贏球，拿下5連勝，和聯盟龍頭海盜只剩下半場勝差。
近況火燙的紅襪，客場面對美聯西區力爭上游的天使，紅襪開賽不久就有斬獲，2局上，Jarrod Saltalamacchia在得點圈有人的情況下，敲出左外野平飛安打，幫助紅襪先馳得點，取得2比0領先。
不過，3局下，天使先追回一分，4局下，Howie Kendrick揮出中右外野陽春砲，也是個人本季第10發紅不讓，雙方戰成2比2平手。
接下來的兩個半局，雙方都沒能有斬獲，直到7局上半，紅襪靠著1安打、1失誤，Shane Victorino跑回超前分。
來到8局上半，代打上陣的Ortiz第一個打席就有貢獻，右外野方向的兩分砲，老爹本季第17發全壘打，幫助紅襪買下贏球保險，Mike Napoli第9局也補上陽春砲，幫助紅襪以6比2贏球，近10場比賽第9勝。
先發投手Felix Doubront主投6.2局，被敲出5支安打，僅僅丟掉2分，拿下睽違一個月的勝投。
紅襪贏球後，戰績來到54勝34敗，勝率6成14，和聯盟龍頭海盜只剩下半場勝差。
