美國、太平洋及澳洲地區當地時間15日凌晨已經搶先目睹難得一見的血月風采，長達78分鐘的天文奇景，吸引大批天文迷熬夜搶拍，而台灣地區要等到10月8日傍晚6、7時，才能觀看月全食的血月現象。

5百年來出現第四次的「連環四月食」已於美國時間15日凌晨2時至4時發生，根據美國《洛杉磯時報》報導，北美地區所看到的月亮，會在黑夜中慢慢被吞噬，之後轉成暗紅色，成為俗稱的「血月」。
