談到在大聯盟之中，培養優質投手最厲害的是哪支球隊？坦帕灣光芒一定是選項之一。不過他們的年輕左投Matt Moore現在傳出壞消息，將動手肘韌帶置換手術，確定本季提前報消。

Moore在8日對皇家的比賽中，投了4.1局因手肘痠痛提早退場。今天(16日)光芒球團宣布Moore要動手肘韌帶置換手術(別稱Tommy John手術)，手術將由名醫James Andrews操刀。

TJ手術在美國職棒相當常見，今年直升大聯盟的王維中也曾在旅美初期開過。值得注意的是，Moore是光芒自2009年6月的Jason Isringhausen之後，相隔近5年才又有人接受此手術，可說是相當會保護投手的球團。

本季提前報銷的Moore說：「在這競爭激烈的賽場上，我現在無法幫助球隊。這是我職業生涯的首次嚴重受傷，將會缺席很長一段時間。」

光芒總教練John Maddon樂觀看待此事，相信Moore的決定，能為他跟球隊帶來長遠的助益。事實上，過去有許多投手動完TJ手術，不但可以重回投手丘，球速還能往上提升。
