Alright, I want to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread, but I am locking it for the time being.

After some discussion, I'm handing off the Yorick rework prototype to RiotScruffy (who did a great job on Skarner as you'll see very soon) - and we've reordered the reworks we're doing. Yorick will likely get a larger rework than Xerath, but this means we need substantially more time to do it right.

This isn't uncommon with reworks. With reworks there's several major phases:

Breakdown - Communication & Understanding of the character, his issues and the parts players love, along with fantasy
Prototyping - new versions of the character which also appeal to the fantasy. Goal here is a strong play-pattern with a healthy core.
Refinement - taking the best results of stage 2 and making sure this character feels good and is polished
Game Health - this consists of internal diamond/pro playtesting, including input heavily from our QA analysts observing or participating in those matches

Different people do different stages. Here's a few examples! (p.s. this is not permission to go be angry cuz you didn't like how a specific stage turned out)


重製經過很多手並不是少見的事,因為英雄重製有一些主要的階段:

初期-溝通和了解一個角色,知道一個角色那些部份有問題,那些部份是玩家所愛或是理想中的

原型設計-設定角色的各種新版本(而且是要符合玩家理想),在此的目標是要有強烈且健康的打法風格.

強化體驗-找出"原型"階段最好的一些結果並保證這個角色打起來感覺很好,並且是重新打磨過的.

遊戲健康-這階段是讓鑽石以上或是職業玩家作內部測試,透過參加遊戲或是觀察遊戲來作重製品質的分析

不同的人會負責不同階段.下面是一些範例!
(注:這不是讓你因為不爽某個階段就發火的理由!)


E.g. on Xerath, the major owners at those stages were:

Breakdown - Xelnath (Me)
Prototyping - Xelnath
Refinement - ZenonTheStoic
Game Health - GMang

On Rengar:

Breakdown - Classick
Prototyping - Scarizard
Refinement - Wav3Break (Awesome Intern!)
Game Health - RiotChun (I think... this one has been in flux while we reschedule timelines)

On Heimerdinger:

Breakdown - Xypherous
Prototyping - Xypherous
Refinement - 20thCenturyFaux
Game Health - RicklessAbandon and Roku

On Sejuani:

Breakdown - Volty
Prototyping - Volty
Refinement - ZenonTheStoic
Game Health - SmashGizmo (not sure, this was before my time)

Anyways, as you can see champion reworks go through a lot of hands, with different kinds of experts needed at different stages.
