光圈開小畫質究竟是變銳利還是變差呢?

不好意思，我是個攝影新手，想請教個問題:

就是在各位版大的評測文中有時會寫到光圈縮小時可以提升照片的銳利度，
而我試著Google一下，卻找不到相關的說明文，
反而找到了一篇跟這個理論完全相反的文章:

衍射现象

上面這篇文章寫到，由於衍射现象(台灣應該是講繞射吧)的關係，
使用小光圈反而容易讓解析度變差。

請問究竟是哪一種理論才是對的呢?
