坐落在美國科羅拉多州的小鎮蒙特蘇馬有一座4200平方英尺(約合390平方公尺)的房子，該建築外表上與普通民居毫無區別，但其內在構造卻別有洞天。該房屋選址遠離市區，可提供足夠的私人空間。房屋的牆壁由鋼筋混凝土砌成並用鋼板加固，能夠抵禦核武器的破壞。

據驅動之家引述英國《每日郵報》報導，房屋內部整體風格十分溫馨，給人以家的感覺，唯一不同的是屋頂上的金屬通風管道。如果有核戰爭爆發或化學氣體洩漏，該管道可以關閉，從而避免空氣受到污染。屋內沒有窗戶，全靠燈光來照明。屋外，一座無線電塔與燃料庫相通，燃料庫內有四個獨立的供電系統可以為房屋供電，建屋十多年來從未出現過停電問題。另外燃料庫內還設有濾水系統，可提供飲用水。

若沒有核災難，房屋外精心修剪的草坪也是一處不錯的休閒場所。據悉，該房屋於2003年建成，初次上市售價為1150萬美元。該房屋也可供出租，租金按人頭計算，每月19500美元。
