注毒處死藥物爭議中 美今年第32囚伏法

美國亞利桑納州當局表示，在1996年殺害6人的盜匪瓊斯(Robert Jones)，23日被以注射藥物方式處死，這是今年來全美第32名伏法的死囚。

亞利桑納州立監獄發言人尼克(Doug Nick)告訴法新社，43歲的瓊斯被注射戊巴比妥(Pentobarbital)藥劑，在當地時間上午10點52分(台灣時間24日凌晨1點52分)宣告死亡，這是該州本月第二度執行死刑。

瓊斯因殺害6人在2000年被判處6個死刑。在亞利桑納州處死瓊斯之際，適逢美國數州因為行刑的注射藥物引發爭議之際。

目前美國所有執行死刑的州，幾乎都使用巴必妥酸鹽(barbiturate)和戊巴比妥(Pentobarbital)進行注毒處死，巴比妥酸鹽和戊巴比妥是鎮靜與催眠藥物。但由於供應量減少，具有死刑的州當局都轉用新藥或新的供應商，但這也引發爭議。

由於歐洲的供應商拒絕提供一般被用為動物安樂死的巴必妥酸鹽，作為處死囚犯的藥物，迫使這些州轉而尋求聯邦管制之外的組合藥劑。

像是密蘇里州就計劃轉用異丙酚(Propofol)來處死囚犯，流行樂天王麥可傑克森(Michael Jackson)就是把這種麻醉藥當安眠藥使用而過量致死。

不過產製異丙酚的德國藥廠有異議，拒絕把這種藥物用以行刑，密蘇里州因此被迫喊卡。
