黃金應該如何檢驗，水火都是工具，俗話說說真金不怕火煉，因為在高溫下不是黃金，就會燒出原型，另外水秤法其實就是比重法，利用水秤算出測試物的比重是不是和黃金符合，做為基本判斷，但是遇到鎢鋼比重相當，水秤法會失靈。

真金不怕火煉，是不是純金，火燒檢驗是最常見的方法是黃金依舊光亮，有雜質就會變黑現形，一般使用噴槍測試黃金的純度和成分，黃金不但不怕火煉，在水中也能辨識真假，就是所謂的水秤法也就是比重法，在25度的水溫下將黃金用線綁著放入水中秤出水中重量，黃金重量除以水中重量就是黃金的比重19.32，不過烏鋼合金比重相當，用烏鋼冒充黃金無法靠比重法辨別，專業老千看準這點瞞天過海，用烏鋼假冒黃金，連當鋪也被蒙騙。
