中市都發局長：沒有拆除東海大學路思義教堂的計畫

外界傳言台中市政府為開闢道路，將拆除東海大學「路思義」教堂，市府都市發展局局長沐桂新今天出席在弘光科大舉行的中部地區大學校長會議時鄭重澄清，該區範圍內沒有任何都市計畫道路，市府絕無拆除教堂的計畫。

十年前部分台中工業區廠商向市府提案，爭取開闢市政路延伸、穿越東大校園的道路，以連接中部科學園區，當時並沒有成案；市府都市發展局局長沐桂新在中部地區大學校長會議中指出，市府目前在該區，沒有任何計畫道路要開闢，市府絕對沒有拆除教堂的計畫，會有拆除的傳言，可能是因為選舉一到就謠言四起。

路思義教堂建於1962年9月，1963年11月2日落成，為著名美國華裔建築師貝聿銘與台灣建築師陳其寬之作，為東海大學校園象徵，位於整個校園的中心，市府說，它不僅是台中市的知名地標，也是台灣的建築亮點，更是世界的建築典範，大家保存它都來不及，市府絕不可能去拆除它。
