【綜合報導】目前正為是否出兵敘利亞而紛擾不已的美國，11日舉行了911恐怖攻擊12周年的紀念活動，總統歐巴馬也在五角大廈前發表演說。
 
12年前，由基地組織所發動的恐怖攻擊，四架民航機衝撞世貿大樓與五角大廈，造成近3千人死亡的悲劇，當時，國防部內有184名人員不幸罹難。歐巴馬在致詞時除悼念罹難者的美好前程被意外剝奪之外，還強調使用武力是權宜之計（force is at times necessary），因為光憑武力「無法建立我們所尋求的世界」。
