今年10月31日是首屆『世界城市日』。首屆『世界城市日』標誌圖案(LOGO)在滬發布。同時，作為首個『世界城市日』系列活動的主場城市，一塊倒計時牌也在上海人民廣場軌交站啟動。

根據新民網報報導，據介紹，首屆『世界城市日』的標誌圖案由聯合國人居署專家精心設計，分兩個部分：左上方是『世界城市日』的英文全稱，右上方的圖案以三幢建築寓意城市，以三口之家代表生活在城市裡的廣大居民，建築周圍點綴著青草，象徵著城市與環境的和諧共生，圖案下方用英文標註了『世界城市日』的日期，即每年10月31日。標誌下方還用中英雙語記錄了『世界城市日』的宗旨『城市，讓生活更美好』。整個標誌圖案以聯合國藍色為主基調。

『世界城市日』是聯合國首個以城市為主題的國際日，也是第一個由大陸政府倡議並成功設立的國際日，和上海世博會有著千絲萬縷的關係。
