新北市議員第五選區（中和）因第一選區人口增加，本屆7席議員減少為6席，國、民兩黨6席議員全數尋求連任，無黨籍議員游輝廷交棒給堂弟游輝■　，加上1名新黨及1名資深媒體人，形成9搶6的激烈選情。

中和傳統為藍軍鐵票區，國民黨上屆採高額提名，導致選票流失，本屆相對保守，僅提名現任邱烽堯、陳錦錠、金瑞龍，若無意外，3人連任機率不低。

前中和市民代表戴德成在上屆市議員選舉中拿下1萬4千多票落選，本屆再度代表新黨參選，加上金門同鄉會力挺、新黨主席郁慕明加持，對於深藍選票有一定影響力。

反觀，綠營江永昌上屆以無黨籍參選、民進黨提名林秀惠和張瑞山，各以2萬多票當選，包辦該選區前3名，今年仍由3人披掛上陣，但國民黨不像上屆參選爆炸，加上席次減少，反而成為綠營的壓力。

無黨籍游輝廷交棒給堂弟游輝 　，游輝 是前中和市民代表會主席游象賢的兒子，在游輝廷服務處服務超過5年，熟悉基層事務，實力不容小覷。

資深媒體人林朝鑫親舅為前台北縣議員簡文劉，簡上屆落選，林參加國民黨初選落敗，最後決定以無黨籍身分參選，是否能衝出重圍，頗值得關注。
