雖然Yasiel Puig偶爾跑壘散慢，仍是道奇總教練Don Mattingly心中最棒的右外野手。「這小子主宰右外野。」Mattingly說。

本季Puig已有4次助殺，大聯盟排名第4，他的速度、防守範圍，不在話下，長傳功力更令教頭讚嘆：「Puig的雷射肩，大聯盟沒有人敢挑戰，他在右外野，能阻止對方跑者從一壘衝上三壘。」

這個例子可以證明Mattingly所言不虛：柳賢振挑戰完全比賽的那一戰，道奇隊差點翻船，不過，Puig迅速的回傳，把追平分跑者擋在三壘，守住一分領先，才有最後的勝利。

然而，道奇隊並不考慮把Puig調到中外野。「要是我們把Puig調到中外野，那右外野防線就會變差，他也得花時間適應中外野守備，我們也不確定，他會不會成為最棒的中外野手。還是讓Puig當個最佳右外野手比較好。」
