周四 (11 日) 美國股市盤後交易，億萬投資人 Carl Icahn 示意將出價更高來買下美國個人電腦 (PC) 公司戴爾 (Dell)(DELL-US)，後者股價聞訊上揚。美國休閒服飾品牌 Gap (GPS-US) 發布上個月銷售額優於市場預期，股價亦漲。

Icahn 於《彭博社》電視節目上表示，他可能會在周五 (12 日) 上午前提出價格「遠遠更高」的提案來收購戴爾，挑戰戴爾最大股東及執行長麥可戴爾 (Michael Dell) 將公司私有化的提案。戴爾盤後股價應聲在暴量交易中上揚 0.5% 報 13.41 美元。

Gap 盤後公布，6 月份同店銷售額較一年前成長 7%，遠優於分析師預期的增長 4.7%。股價聞訊上揚 0.4% 報 44.95 美元。
