Sony Mobile Communications has launched its Xperia E3 in the Taiwan market, priced at NT$6,900 (US$227) unlocked targeting the entry-level segment. The model is the lowest-priced LTE-enabled phone ever released by Sony Mobile.
The Xperia E3 is equipped a Qualcomm 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU, 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 5-megapixel camera supporting HDR technology as well as supporting LTE 800/850/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz but not including LTE 700 which is available in Taiwan.
The launch of the Xperia E3 has helped ramp up shipments at its Taiwan-based ODM maker Arima Communications, which is expected to see its revenues soar to over NT$3 billion in September compared to NT$1.64 billion in August, according to an industry estimate.
Arima is expected to see its monthly revenues hovering around NT$3 billion during the October-November period and to swing back to profitability starting in the third quarter of 2014, said industry sources.
