在地主球迷的嘆息聲中，西班牙在世界盃籃球賽八強賽中，52比65不敵法國，慘遭擊沈。

另一場八強賽事，塞爾維亞84比56勝巴西，明天的四強賽，將由美國對上立陶宛，法國與塞爾維亞則在後天爭奪本屆世界盃冠軍賽的另一張門票。

在這次的世界盃，地主的西班牙勢如破竹，連贏6場比賽，包括在分組預賽，也曾以24分大勝法國，被認為是最有機會與美國爭冠的熱門球隊。

不過八強賽再次遭遇法國，法國拿出渾身解數，不論是在防守，甚至在籃板上表現都比較好，之前6場比賽，西班牙平均每場88分，但是這場比賽，傳輸線被法國整個截斷，只拿下52分。

在去年的歐錦賽，法國在Tony Parker的帶領下，終結了西班牙三連霸的美夢，今年在世界盃，法國沒有小跑車，而且西班牙狀況正佳，沒想到在八強賽，又栽在法國手上。

「這場比賽輸球，非常難過與失望，」Pau Gasol說，「大家對我們期待很高，之前的比賽也打得那麼好。」
