彰化市公所特別於6月2日端午節前，在31日在彰化藝術館廣場舉辦一場親子彩繪百變摩天輪創作活動，共有550位國小學童報名參加，市公所提供原色木質摩天輪筆筒材料給每一位小朋友，讓小朋友與家長一起自由創作彩繪，創作出屬於自己的創意筆筒。 

市長邱建富特別到現場和大家一起彩繪，贈送每位小朋友一個色彩鮮艷的香包，並親自為他們佩帶，許多家長看到市長為孩子佩帶香包，都拿起手機或相機拍照留念。

社會課表示，彰化市公所辦理親子DIY創作活動，報名踴躍獲得很大迴響，這次歷年來參加人數最多的一次。

比賽將從小朋友作品中擇優遴選80件作品，將作品掃描印製獎狀頒給得獎者作為獎勵。凡參加活動的小朋友，將贈送有每人一顆精緻香包。現場也特別安排魔術及特技表演與小朋友提早過端午。
