靠著Alfonso Soriano的快腿，洋基此番來到聖彼得堡免遭橫掃，在延長第11局上半，Curtis Granderson擊出高飛犧牲打，送回Alfonso Soriano，洋基也以3比2力克光芒。
洋基11局上半的進攻，1人出局後，Alfonso Soriano打出二壘安打，接著再盜上三壘，然後就在Curtis Granderson中間方向飛球的護送下回來得到致勝分。
「他安全盜上二壘，情況就改變了，」Curtis Granderson說，「我只需把球送到外野就行。」
「如果無人出局就不行，」洋基總教練Joe Girardi說，「但是一人出局，我就就可以試著大膽推進，讓 Curtis Granderson比較好處理。」
盜上三壘時，Alfonso Soriano的腳步還滑了一下，「打DH我的雙腿沒有百分之百放鬆，心態是百分之百，但雙腿沒辦法。」
