改編自真實事件的《厲陰宅》（The Conjuring），上周末以黑馬之姿，嚇趴一眾新片以及上映中影片勇奪全美票房冠軍，不僅創下導演個人最高開票紀錄，更是全美影史原創恐怖片的開票成績第一名。
《厲》片上周於美國上映，以2903家戲院，開出4153萬美金的票房成績（約125億台幣），創下今年度美國恐怖片開票紀錄，以及導演溫子仁（首集《奪魂鋸》導演）個人開票最高記錄。電影僅用了2000萬美金的製作成本，在上映首日，幾乎就已回本。
直得一提的是，在美國票房首周能超越4000萬美金的R級（美國的限制級，本片在台以輔導級過關）電影通常不是續集就是重拍，而《厲》片除了是美國恐怖片影史開片成績第二名，但相較於第一名的《鬼入鏡3》，《厲》片是個全新的題材，首周能賣破4000萬美金大關，堪稱絕無僅有。

除了絕佳的票房，電影的口碑也叫好，尤其真實事件的背景，也讓美國各大媒體深入探討華倫女士這位高齡超過80、至今仍在世界各地義務地幫助許多被靈界糾纏的人們的超自然現象研究者，也因此讓這部電影儼然成為今年暑假最多人討論且必看的電影。《厲陰宅》將於下周五（8月2日）在台上映。
