請問庭院種菜施肥

請問版上的大大
老媽喜歡在庭院種些蔬菜，都會使用一些廚房剩下的菜葉根莖果皮當肥料，我看老媽種的還不錯!可是老爸卻說要用肥料才會長的好；肥料不都是化學的嗎?會比較好嗎?
使用根莖果皮這些自然的肥料，有沒有可以加甚麼東西讓它加快分解嗎?
