世界衛生組織指出，截至8月底，伊波拉確認、疑似與可能病例達到3707例，其中1848人死亡。世衛目前正在召開醫學會議，討論仍實驗中的藥品直接在人體使用的可能。

根據世衛組織（WHO）的統計，截至8月31日為止，包括幾內亞、賴比瑞亞與獅子山共和國等3個西非疫情蔓延區的確診、疑似與可能病例達到3685例，造成1841人死亡。

剛爆出疫情的奈及利亞則有21個確診、疑似與可能病例，並奪走7條人命。賽內加爾則確認1個伊波拉病例，但尚未有死亡與其他病例傳出。

為防堵疫情持續擴散，世衛組織今天在日內瓦召開為期2天的會議，邀請藥廠、監管機構與專家學者討論實驗中用藥的安全性與效用。

世衛組織日前表示，目前有8種藥品與2款疫苗顯示具有對抗伊波拉病毒的藥效，其中也包括已經在數名病患身上使用的ZMapp。不過ZMapp的效用仍不明確，但期望在今年年底可以生產出數百份劑量，提供病患使用。(中央社)
