最安全的地方有時候可能成為最危險的地方，新加坡2012年因傷送院的病人中，超過1/3是在自家受傷，老人家的風險尤其高。

「海峽時報」（Straits Times）報導，根據新加坡政府上個月發布的的國家創傷登記報告，在2012年因嚴重受傷送醫治療的4278人中，有超過1/3約1484人是在自家受傷，比因為車禍嚴重受傷的1246人更多。

5個受傷送醫病人中就有2人是超過65歲的老人家，專家指出，老人家的肌肉和眼睛的能力都比較弱，因此比較容易面臨危險的狀況。

許多老人家並不是因為在家中受到傷害而死亡，而是送到醫院後卻併發感染肺炎或敗血症而死亡，醫生指出，由於老人家患有慢性病，導致他們身體應付傷害的能力比較低。

專家建議，應該要在家中廁所裝上把手，並用防滑材料做為地板，避免在家中跌倒。

新加坡衛生部從今年4月開始，幫助老人家評估家中的危險區，並提供建議，減少老人在自家跌倒的風險。(中央社)
