為了等待完美婚禮時刻，英國夫婦大衛·巴克(David Barker)與達芙妮·索普(Daphne Thorp)等了40多年。在訂婚42年後，年逾古稀的兩人現在終於喜結連理。

國際在線據英國《每日郵報》報導，巴克與索普1972年在一次舞會上相識，僅僅4周後，索普就接受了巴克求婚，兩人定立婚約，但他們都不想『匆忙』開始婚姻生活，為此婚禮一直被拖延下來。2013年，索普心臟病發作後，兩人決定不再等待。

盡管索普的訂婚戒指已經不再合適，但她依然戴著它嫁給巴克。索普說：『我突然意識到，自己已經不再年輕。我想：「我可能無法再活40年，我們還是結婚吧！」我很高興自己做出這個決定。』

婚禮儀式在索普82歲生日當天舉行，她稱自己的婚禮日是完美的。索普說：『我很激動自己能與夢中的男子攜手餘生。』婚禮日之前，巴克稱他對索普的愛是沒有條件的，稱其是一位偉大的迷人女性，他的生活中不能沒有她。
