MH17航班遭擊落事件正調查中，馬航也於台灣時間7月18日晚間調整「阿姆斯特丹-吉隆坡」班號，預計從7月25日起，MH17將改為MH19。這是馬航繼MH370/371調整為MH318/319後，再度因重大事故而更改班號。

因飛機失蹤緣故，馬航於今(2014)年3月11日更改班號，「MH370」正式走入歷史，近日MH17遭擊落事件鬧得沸沸揚揚，18日晚間，馬航正式將現有阿姆斯特丹飛吉隆坡的「MH17」班號，至25日起改為「MH19」。

據以往經驗，航空公司於發生重大事件後，傾向於更改原有班機號碼，避免乘客有過多聯想或忌諱，除了「MH370」已更改之外，如去(2013)年7月韓亞航空降落舊金山意外事故後，也將原有班號「OZ214/213」改為「OZ212/211」。
