2014年巴西世界盃落幕，德國成為最後贏家，這一座冠軍代表的不僅是隊史第四冠，還是第一次有歐洲球隊能在南美洲國家舉辦的世足賽中帶走冠軍盃。

本屆世界盃是第五度於南美舉辦，過去四座冠軍都被南美洲球隊拿走，歐洲球隊曾兩度叩關都被擋下，分別是1962年的捷克斯洛伐克，以及1978年的荷蘭。

第三次在歐洲以外的戰場爭冠，德國決賽以1：0擊敗阿根廷，成為世界盃史上第一支在南美洲領土摘冠的歐洲隊伍，也是含西德時代在內，第四座世界盃冠軍。

德國曾在1954年瑞士、1974年德國以及1990年義大利世界盃拿下冠軍，東西德在1990年世界盃結束後3個月合併，今年拿下的冠軍，是以德國名義出征後首冠。
