經過多時等待，教士隊終於跟古巴投手Odrisamer Despaigne簽下小聯盟合約，據傳Despaigne可以拿到100萬美元的簽約獎金。

27歲的Despaigne，是2013年WBC經典賽國手，去年夏天叛逃。今年春訓，他來到亞利桑那，跟著教士隊練習，當時跟他一起在教士隊練球的古巴球員，還有游擊手Aledmys Diaz，後來Diaz跟紅雀隊簽下4年800萬美元合約。

Despaigne過去在古巴國家聯賽打了8年，出賽213場，戰績61勝43敗、防禦率3.55，投出684次三振。

教士隊會讓Despaigne留在亞利桑那，參加延長春訓，然後到小聯盟出賽，如果上大聯盟，可能擔任長中繼。
