（中央社華盛頓28日綜合外電報導）美國科學家表示，他們在研發中東呼吸症候群（MERS）冠狀病毒的療法方面，已有進展。這種新疾病在沙烏地阿拉伯造成100起以上死亡病例。

中東呼吸症候群的感染死亡率超過40%，最初是2012年由沙國通報，專家目前仍奮力了解這種疾病，因此尚無疫苗或抗病毒療法。

但如今美國波士頓丹那法博癌症研究所（Dana-Farber Cancer Institute）的科學家已找出可對抗病毒的人體天然抗體，那是人體免疫系統製造的1種蛋白質，能辨認異質病毒和細菌。

根據美國國家科學院學報（PNAS）刊登的實驗室研究報告，研究人員發現，這些「中和」抗體能防止病毒的關鍵部分依附在蛋白質受體上，而病毒一旦依附就會傳染到人體細胞。

上述科學家指出，進一步實驗已在進行中，可能因此研發出中東呼吸症候群的預防性抗體藥物和治療用藥。(中央社)
