與紅雀簽下生涯總值最高4年5300萬美元合約的Jhonny Peralta，熱身賽面對前東家老虎，Peralta揮出雙響砲，但紅雀最終以5比8輸球。

來到紅雀之前，Peralta為老虎效力3個半球季，他表示，紅雀總教練Mike Matheny幾天前就詢問過他，是否想對上老虎？Peralta接受這個提議，且從前隊友Drew Smyly手中，敲出兩發陽春彈。

Peralta的第一轟瞄準第一球就攻擊，「第一球就是快速球，我沒聽清楚Smyly跟我說什麼，但應該是在開玩笑。」

賽後Smyly解答，「我那時候是跟他說：『在我認識你的這兩年裡，印象中沒看過你打第一球。』」

儘管Peralta有單場雙響砲演出，老虎則有Nick Castellanos開轟，Miguel Cabrera、Victor Martinez 及Austin Jackson等人各有2安表現，最終由老虎帶走勝利。

Peralta去年球季繳出打擊率3成03，季末因違反禁藥規定被禁賽50場，「我想我們知道他在場上的表現，他就只是做好他該做的。」Matheny表示。
