17年後...國家棟樑 13.5％是新住民子女

由國人與外籍配偶在台生養的新住民子女人數，近年來的成長速度驚人。據統計，去年新住民子女就讀國小人數為16.1萬人，是7年前的2倍；依成長速度推估，台灣2030年時的25歲青壯年世代，將有13.5％為新住民子女。

內政部長李鴻源表示，該計畫每年幫助約3000名孩童，目前各縣市挑選轄內小學新住民子女人數超過100名、或超過全校總學生數10分之1者作為新住民「重點學校」，目前全國已有7成7的小學被列為新住民重點學校，而新住民子女人數比率超過5成的國小也有23所。

移民署統計，新住民家庭配偶人數以直轄市最多，其中以新北市的9.2萬人最多。李鴻源指出，新住民人口雖集中在都會區，但偏遠地區因人口外移情形較普遍，相較之下，新住民子女反而成為當地學校主要的受教族群。

除了新住民的議題，李鴻源也提到，去年在台灣合法居留外僑約54萬餘人，其中藍領外勞占7成8，白領工作者僅占約4％。他說，各國都在搶人才，吸引國際優秀的白領人才來台也很重要。
