在與國會領袖會面前，美國總統歐巴馬十四日說，若是共和黨合作，美國的財政僵局「今天」即能化解，美國也不會倒債。美國政府局部關門十四日進入第十四天，歐巴馬警告說，政府關門是「完全不必要」發生的事，他抨擊共和黨運用政治邊緣政策，意在迫使民主黨作出「極端的」讓步。（法新社）
