【周昭平／高雄報導】高雄市府整治愛河下游段有成，今宣佈將繼續針對上游段的九番埤、檨仔林埤進行水質改善，預計花費8千萬建構人工濕地及礫間過濾功能，將水體淨化後再回注愛河，明年底完工後除保持現有渠道排水功能，也能提昇水域內動、植物生態平衡及永續發展目標。

高市府上午進行愛河上游段整治工程動土典禮，市長陳菊致詞時說，改善工程爭取環保署補助8千萬元，要在愛河上游段的九番埤、檨仔林埤分別建構人工濕地及現地礫間處理，採取自然淨化工法來讓河川水體水質清淨，工程預計明年底完工，粗估直接受惠居民高達96萬人，將有效提升周邊社區民眾生活環境品質。
