【徐珮君／台北報導】已故棒球教練徐生明日前過世，享年55歲。行政院會上午通過褒揚令，將提請總統府褒揚。內政部指出，徐生明生前對推動國內棒球運動發展及培育選手，不遺餘力，並於擔任國家代表選手及率隊參加國際賽事期間，屢獲佳績，使我國棒球實力受到國際棒壇矚目，對我國棒球運動貢獻卓著，實為我國棒壇楷模，足堪褒揚。

內政部表示，徐生明以32歲之齡成為中華職棒史上最年輕的總教練，教練生涯橫跨中華職棒與台灣大聯盟等2個職棒聯盟，曾在1997年至1999年連續 3 年獲選最佳總教練，職棒教練生涯總計奪得 715 勝，為我國職棒史上獲最多勝之總教練。

徐生明於2003年擔任中華成棒代表隊總教練，率中華隊擊敗韓國隊，再次掀起國內棒球熱潮，並取得隔年奧運會參賽資格；2004年徐生明在健康不佳之情況下，仍率隊參加奧運，感動無數國人。
